The Ongoing Impact of the NBA's Legends of Basketball: their journey after Professional Basketball is the Beginning, not the Ending.

Legends of Basketball (formerly the National Basketball Retired Players Association) continues to impact the Communities both where they live and around the World since their inception in 1992. The Organization’s tentacles reach across the Athletic, Educational, Business, Health and Wellness Spectrum. They promote Fitness, General Health and Wellness, Scholarship, Mentorship, Community Development, and Fellowship. They plant these seeds of growth utilizing the skill sets and fundamental principles of the Game of Basketball: Teamwork, Selflessness, Hard Work, Discipline, and Sacrifice. Legends of Basketball President Antonio Davis and Board Member Charles “Choo” Smith led a tremendous collaborative effort of NBA Legends, City Officials, NBA Officials, and Staff to leave their imprint on the All-Star Weekend Festivities here in Los Angeles.

Legends of Basketball players also partner with numerous Sponsors and Organizations to enrich their own Post-NBA careers, using opportunities for Internships and specialized training to achieve success in the Business, Financial, Manufacturing, Philanthropic, and Entertainment sectors. They have taken these tools and applied them to their own personal and career growth. They still stand by the mandate to give their time, to enrich the lives of people who dream of being the next NBA Superstar, CEO, or President.

I was a credentialed Photographer for 5 NBA All-Star Weekends: Los Angeles ‘83, Dallas ‘86, Chicago ‘88, Houston ‘89, and Miami ‘90. The League was scratching the surface of the Global Entertainment Behemoth they have become.

I returned to the fold to cover Events for the Legends of Basketball in Cleveland for the

NBA’s 75th Anniversary in 2022. What has not changed in the mutual respect and powerful bond between the League, their Current Players, Retired Players and Business Partners to keep the NBA at the forefront of Entertainment and Charitable Endeavors.

My Love of Photography and the NBA knows no bounds; I would like to thank the Legends of Basketball, and specifically Ritza Yana, Communications Director for the Finn Group, for allowing me to play a part in the documentation of their tireless giving and inspiration to diverse people of all ages. I look forward to capturing many future Events on Film.
